If you can get to the Esri International Users Conference in San Diego this July then there is a whole Petroleum industry track plus a well attended PUG/MUG social that is great for networking. See http://www.esri.com/events/user-conference

Although you've just missed it this year, every spring there's an Esri Petroleum GIS conference in Houston.
