Hi everyone,
Not sure where this questions should have gone but has anyone figured an "end-around" using text in lieu of the default numerical number in a placed dimension? There are times where one would want to show limits between two lines but not show a distance dimension but rather a text comment. Anyone ever hear of a solution? ESRI should adopt an override for text over the dim length. Thanks for any input.
Hi Larry,
This is old so surely you've worked something out by now. To get around this issue, I ended up turning off text display in the dimension style then used graphic text or an annotation feature class to place text for the dimension.
Paul! So good to see your response! Thank you for even responding to such an old post...I don't even remember how I did it but yes, I believe that a dimension class has properties in which one can edit the value displayed by the dimension to read whatever you'd like it to be. Again, old post so I'm not quite sure how I overcame the challenge but I reviewed the map I made when I posed the question and it seems that it's possible to 'substitute' text over the numeric distance. Good to hear from you man! Thanks again!
