Applicants must have excellent communication and customer service skills and be able to perform advanced skill level technical work including Geographic Information System (GIS) design and management, engineering design and drafting, mapping, City addressing, data and record collection and storage, survey field duties, records management, and related technical engineering tasks; consultant contract administration; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.

In addition to basic duties, applicants will perform advanced skilled technical tasks including design, management, and implementation of the City’s GIS applications, Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and infrastructure and record management, and possess inherent knowledge of engineering design software and construction practices. Work at this level is characterized by the independent application of standard engineering procedures and techniques to accomplish a wide variety of work in the office and/or field. Incumbents generally serve as full production staff or crew leaders. Work is assigned through general instruction and the setting of deadlines by a supervisor who engages in ongoing spot-check reviews, provides assistance when problems are encountered and reviews completed work. This role includes the leadership and supervision of the Traffic Intern.

Applicants are required to possess an Associate degree in engineering technology, surveying, drafting, geography, planning, computer science or other closely related fields and four years of experience performing skilled technical work.

Or A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geography, planning computer science or other closely related field and two years of experience performing skilled technical work.

Or An equivalent combination of education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to be successful in performing the essential functions of the position.
