Annual salary range: $108,290 to $131,627

The Contra Costa County Department of Information Technology provides a full range of services to the entire organization. Its team manages the central corporate computing complex, the County Wide Area Network (WAN), numerous Local Area Networks (LANs), and provides business and technical consulting services to departments and managers throughout the organization. The department has 91 full time staff positions allocated in the budget (71 currently filled) as well as 10-15 temporary or contract staff to provide assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in order to meet the County’s needs.

The GIS Manager will bring astute negotiation skills to develop fair and consistent models to charge for service within the County organization. Additionally, they will possess the forethought to determine how GIS tools can help expand County service delivery and improve long term efficiency of county operations. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned GIS professional with strong administrative skills, like contracting, budgeting, and reporting. A strong project management background and familiarity migrating to various platforms like Azure or AWS is extremely valuable. This is a hands-on, working manager position, and the GIS Manager will be expected to be both technically proficient as a technology professional but also have management skills to help train, mentor, and develop the team. Someone comfortable and familiar with emergency operations centers and public safety is ideal.
