  • How have you helped others learn about and apply GIS in their work or lives this year?
  • What personal GIS projects are you most proud of?
  • What areas GIS would you like to explore more this year? What GIS skills would you like to improve in?
  • What is one way you’d like to see GIS change the world?

In Johnson City, TN we celebrated GIS Day 2017 by launching Portal to our workforce. Each year the GIS staff does a survey of City staff to benchmark the influence of the technology and how we can better serve our internal audience. We produced a story map to communicate this year’s announcements. http://arcg.is/2zFV7WA

At the City of Lander Wyoming we held an open house at the City Hall. We had a few people show up, and we gave a demonstration on GIS and how it can help anyone.  Wed had give-aways and it was a great day.  We are planning to visit the High school after Christmas to do another day long demonstration about GIS and mapping capabilities tracking big horn sheep.

I have been in a primary school teaching kids (3rd grade) to work with maps, get and compare distances.
