I'm an independent contractor this year. how can I host an event? it's my first time.

I'm trying to do our first GIS day within our organisation.  I have created a Survey123 trivia quiz and will link this via a Storymap. I'd like to borrow your gif from above to add to this if that's ok. I'm keeping it simple, so will probably just do links to other GIS resources. Are there any posters or images with the 2025 theme?  All I can find are from previous years.

Hi @IrinaRodri_guez_M_,

Hosting a GIS Day event as an independent contractor is definitely possible and highly encouraged. It's a great way to showcase your expertise, connect with your local community, and build your professional network.

If you're unsure on the type of event you'd like to host, the key is to play to your strengths and consider your target audience and remember you don't have to create everything from scratch.

The GIS Day website has a comprehensive list of resources, including pre-made activities, lessons, and promotional materials you can adapt. You can find them here: GIS Day Resources.

For more inspo, please use this GIS Day 2025 Forum to see what others are doing and review the post, Your Ultimate Guide to Hosting an Unforgettable GIS Day Event  to get a sense of how you can curate your event from start to finish.

One you have your event planned, you can register your event on the GIS Day site. This is a crucial step as it literally puts you on the map, helps promote your event to a global audience, and connects you with others GIS Day participants.

Good luck with your planning!

We had a booth with other organizations and hosted a lot of public and students. At our booth, we showed how we collect data using Survey123 and FieldMaps and then link it to the dashboard. There were a great deal of excitement as we downloaded the comic from ESRI resources and that probably made us the coolest with the primary school kids. Overall, it was a great day

What an incredible GIS Day event, @ForestryFiji. I'm glad to hear you were able to utilize the resources on the GIS Day site and your audience was very much engaged. Thanks for sharing!
