During the event hosted at Prince’s Palace Cultural Center, Alba Iulia the participants explored the powerful role Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can play in museums, research, and long-term planning. The session introduced how GIS tools support the collection management, spatial data regarding historical buildings, while also enhancing curatorial and archaeological field research. Through real-world examples and guided demonstrations, attendees examined practical applications and learned how to incorporate GIS methods into their daily workflows.

Discussions focused on designing and maintaining a GIS database, digitizing and organizing spatial information, and overlaying research data onto historical plans to reveal new insights. Since most of the participants were new to GIS, the event offered a clear path toward integrating spatial thinking into museum practice.
