I am executing a geoprocessing service and result map service. With the same inputs, sometimes it works, sometimes it fails with the following message ???<MessageDesc>None of the processes are ready to run.</MessageDesc>.???

Can anyone help?

My thanks in advance.

More information - The input to the geoprocess is a database. It works with some databases and I get the error message with other databases. All the databases are Access / Personal Geodatabases.

Hey Charles,

I got the same problem too...it's really weird that it looks moody in a way.
I've tried both submit job and asynchronous one and both of them are moody!

If you got to a solution for such problem please let me know.

Thanks,
Fouly.

Hi Fouly,

I did solve my problem. The error message "none of the processes are ready to run" occurs when an input to the geoprocess is not available.

In my case the input in question were various databases. Local databases worked but databases on a network drive didn??t work because the geoprocess didn??t have permissions to access the network drive.

I could access the network drive while running the tool in ArcMap because I was logged on as administrator. But the geoprocess runs as ArcGISSOC and I had to create a ArcGISSOC windows account on the file server machine and give this account permissions to the folder.

Both the inputs not ready and the permissions are documented in the Esri pages but only a sentence or two for each in all of their documentation so it is not something you might notice.

In another case, a database was locked by another process. Even with permissions this didn??t work until the lock was released. In my case, the database was locked due to a different ArcGIS problem which I haven??t solved yet.

You may not have the exact same problem, but I would guess the message is a result of some input not available.

Let me know if there is anything else I can tell you and / or post your solution here after you figuer it out to help the next person.

Hi Charles,

Well that's not the exact case for me as the DB is at my local machine...and when i execute the same geo-process over the same data sometimes it works and sometimes not!

the inputs seems to me available as I tested them over ArcMap and they did work...for now im trying to install service pack 2 as it might help...

what is really confusing me is how come that it works over the same data 'sometimes'...I will try to search for a solution and if you got any hint please just drop me a line and for sure I will keep you updated as soon as i get to a solution.

Thanks,
Fouly.

Hi Fouly,

Your symptoms sound exactly the same as mine. It works in ArcMap but not in the service. And it seems to be intermittent.

My guess is that the ??None of the processes ready to run.? message is still the hint that I would pay attention to.

I am guessing that the process really can??t find the inputs.

Let me know if Service Pack 2 solves the problem.

If not, the I would look for a permissions problem. The geoprocessing service runs using the account ArcGISSOC and I think the folder for your database must set permissions for this account.

Keep me posted, I??m curious.

Hey Charles,

Sorry for my super later reply! I was hardly trying to solve the Geoprocessing issue and it's really hectic...and guess what? Service Pack 2 solved the issue (at least till now).

I have been googling for finding the reason for why Service Pack 2 did solve the issue but unfortunately i didn't find any...but dun mind it works 🙂

Thanks for your effort 🙂

Fouly.
