I'm unable to have the output FC from a 'split line at vertices' process be the input feature layer for the next step in the process, a select by location process. Any idea why?

Input - roads (line) and water (line)

Water --> densify @ 50 m -- (no new output) --> split line at vertices -- (new FC output) --> **select by location (proximity to roads)

At the **, I am unable to use the new FC output as the input feature layer for the next step, which is selecting the split lines by location (proximity to roads). (see attached image)

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Try using Make Feature Layer—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop it may be the output is a feature class.

Did you make the output a layer? since that is what is needed for select by location
