How to create vertical lines through known points to the line and get length from start point of the line feature to pedal points？

I've got a lot points around a line feature, I want to create vertical lines through them to the line and get length from start point of the line feature to pedal points. I've already got point coordinates, distantces and angels of the vertical lines which need to be created with Add XY coordnate and near toos from arctoolbox. I don't know how to create those vertical lines, I've tried Bearing distance to line tool, but the result was geodesic not planar. I'm running out of methods, please help me create those lines and get the length!
