I just finished authorizing my sever licence and went on to update the ArcSDE enterprise geodatabase license, when i try to upload the ECP file that was generated i get the warning that it is an "Invalid authorization file".
Here are the steps i followed
log on to the machine running AGS
Use the Software Authorization tool to authorize my sever using the provsioning file (prvc)
Navigate to the ESRI\License10.4\sysgen folder
copy and rename the keycodes file with the ECP extension
copy the ECP file to my desktop
connect to the database using my established admin connection
upload the ECP
and get the "Invalid authorization file"
i even tried restarting my server.
and here is what is authorized by my prvc file
arcsdeserver
svrenterprise
arcgisserver
schematicssvr
capacitysvr_4
svradvanced
3dserver
spatialserver
networkserver
imageextserver
interopserver
jtxserver
geostatserver
highwayssvr
datareviewersvr
geoeventsvr
portal_50
any
thoughts?
edit one:
When i log on to ArcGIS Sever Manger and check the ArcGIS Software Authorization tab it show the software as not being updated despite being told that it was successful
Hi Randall,
You shouldn't have to rename the keycodes file to keycodes.ecp. Remove the extension from the keycodes file and try authorizing your geodatabase again.
Hi Jake,
Thanks glad to know they fixed that bug BUT it didnt change anything.
It still says the file is invalid
What version of ArcGIS Server are you running? Are you using the Update Enterprise Geodabase License tool:
Update Enterprise Geodatabase License—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop
Hi Jake,
No i didnt. I didnt know that tool was added but regardless didnt work.
i tried to run it and before i got that far it was asking for a ECP file.
Hi Randall,
1. Could you please confirm that are you trying to authorize the geodatabase using the provision file (.prvc) or with the ECP file.
2. Also, confirm that you are providing 'ArcSDE for server enterprise 10.1 to 10.4.1' Authorization number while using the Software authorization.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Rohit
Hi Rohit,
im using the ECP file that was generated after authorizing AGS. I am copying and pasting from the ESRI\License10.4\sysgen folder to my desktop and trying to upload it.
how do i confirm that i am using the right number?
Hi Randall,
You can confirm by navigating to myesri.com > Select 'My Organization' > Select Licensing > Authorizations > Under Authorization Select 'ArcGIS for Server Advanced Enterprise' 10.1 - 10.4.1 > Check the Expiration date and then copy the respective authorization number and use the same authorization number in the Software Authorization.
Here is the web link to generate the ECP file,
Options for Authorizing an Enterprise Geodatabase | Support Services Blog
After generating the ECP file follow the steps in the following web link,
Updating the license for ArcSDE enterprise geodatabases at 10.1 | Support Services Blog
Hi Rohit.
I will work with the licence administrator to give this a try.
Try generating a new ECP file directly from the My Esri site using the ECP number. See if that helps.
