I am currently working on a research project titled “Integrating GIS and In Situ Analysis for Assessing Pollution Effects on Hilsa Habitats in Bangladesh.” The study focuses on evaluating how different pollution sources affect the habitats and biodiversity of Hilsa Shad, a species that plays a vital role in the economy, culture, and food security of Bangladesh.

This research integrates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with field-based environmental monitoring to map pollution hotspots and analyze their impacts on Hilsa habitats across major river systems such as the Padma River, Jamuna River, and Meghna River. By combining spatial analysis with in situ measurements of water quality and habitat conditions, the project aims to identify vulnerable areas, assess biodiversity health, and support sustainable fisheries management.

Ultimately, the findings will contribute to improved conservation strategies and policy recommendations to protect Hilsa populations and ensure the long-term sustainability of Bangladesh’s riverine ecosystems.
