The Vans Warped Tour spanned 25 years from 1995-2019 and traveled all over the United States as well as other parts of the world. It was the largest traveling music festival in the United States and the longest-running touring music festival to date in North America!
Our Team is telling the story of the Vans Warped Tour using GIS and we need your help! We are mapping venues, visualizing the road trips, weather, stories, bands, athletes, nonprofits, volunteers and so much more.
We are searching for a GIS volunteer to join a team of artists, storytellers, and GIS specialists to help build this exciting project. Around 2-4 hours of work per week can be expected, including a 1-hour weekly meeting via zoom. This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity.
Expected GIS volunteer work:
- Research Vans Warped Tour history (bands, artists, athletes, nonprofits, venues)
- Create maps and applications using ArcGIS Online
- Media sourcing (video footage, images, social posts, ticket stubs)
- Data maintenance, management, quality assurance, and quality control
Minimum qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in Geography/GIS program (no experience needed)
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must have the willingness to learn and make a difference
What’s in it for you?
- Gain real world GIS experience
- Be part of a historic project
- Connect and work with like-minded peers
The Vans Warped Tour team meets remotely via Zoom once a week and working hours are flexible.
