Very good, I am a Forestry Engineer from Spain and I work both in the management of forestry operations and in the maintenance of linear infrastructures, so that Module 5 I found very interesting.

My question is: where can you go deeper into this aspect and type of infrastructure?

Thank you very much and a very good job

Hey Jesus,

In terms of how you can take the exercise a step further, the first thing that comes to mind is to have a system that is fully automated. We've talked a lot about drones, aerial imagery and satellite imagery in this course, but one think we didn't touch on is wide angle motion imagey (WAMI). These are stationary cameras that are mounted on buildings usually. So, you can imagine installing them on top of utility poles and collect imagery that way. Then, you could use the unsupervised image classification (ISO Cluster) to idenfify vegetation. In theory, you could have a lidar sensor on each camera, although that could get expensive.

I'm not sure if I've answered your question, so please follow up if you need more of an answer.

hello eiaw, great course, helped me to review and learn new content,
the truth that in Chile I am currently out of work and with plenty of time to learn
more things, from there do not know about online jobs that can help me or in Esri Chile?
the truth is that every day they make their technology work in all areas and without
changing software, but never forget the interoperability of the data! regards

Hi Patricio,

We are glad that you were able to enjoy the class!

As you navigate your job search my suggestion is to continue the learning process as you'll be able to refine and build skills resulting in a stronger resume/CV. If you haven't already had the chance, I recommend checking out our training resources (https://www.esri.com/training/catalog/). Outside of training and during a job search my recommendation is to always start with networking; try to get involved in user groups, conferences, and set up coffee meetings with local GIS professionals. Those connections should help open doors that were not previously available.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Nick

Excellent EIAW Team,

I am forever grateful to the EIAW team who by their commitment and diligence have trained me to be effective in imagery analysis. To this end, I humbly admit that I have never analyzed imagery this way before. Now, I am privileged to learn from imagery specialist. The EIAW training really prepares me to set up and offer services to farmers as Farm Advisor.

However, to achieve my dream as a Farm Advisor, I need an ArcGIS Pro Licence and ArcGIS online Enterprise Account. How can I get these products at a reduced cost?

Moreso, I plan to buy a Drone, a Visual Sensor, and a Multispectral Sensor. I search online and I came across http://enterprise.dji.com. DJI have the products I need (Matrice 100-drone, Zenmuse Z3- Visual Sensor, and Zenmuse XT-Multispectral Sensor).  One interesting thing about their products is that they are very affordable (as shown on their website). Yet, I have sent them numerous mails for inquiry but receive no reply after two weeks. Other products I see online are very expensive. Can the EIAW team help me find out where I can buy a drone specifically design for precision agriculture at an affordable ($5000 - $6000) rate?

Thank you all.

Hello Abel!

That sounds like a very interesting career as a Farm Advisor!

While you are still learning, we have programs to provide access to software.

In the U.S. anyone can have access to a Personal Use license (not to be used commercially) for $100/year. This includes an ArcGIS Pro and an ArcGIS Online organizational account.

http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcgis-for-personal-use

Those outside the U.S. will need to work with their local distributor.

http://www.esri.com/about-esri/contact#international

Students enrolled at qualifying universities may have access to a license (again, for non-commercial use) without cost.

The drone marketplace is changing every day. I found this article reviewing the best options for agriculture. I hope it provides some options for you to explore.

Thanks so much for your question!

Hi Adena!

Instead of ArcGIS for Personal use (which is not supposed to be used for commercial), how can I buy

Perpetual/Concorent  license for ArcGIS Desktop (Basic or Standard or Advanced

)?

Abel,

When you are ready to buy commercial software you will need to contact Esri (in the U.S.) or your distributor (outside the U.S.).

Good luck with your business!

Adena
