Montgomery Parks Trail Ranger Volunteer Program
The Trail Ranger program has been modernized using GIS tools, like Survey123 and ArcGIS dashboards to streamline volunteer reporting and improve maintenance prioritization. The new system replaces inconsistent email and Samaritan (a volunteer database) reporting with standardized forms that allow volunteers to submit issues using their location and photos, feeding real-time data into dashboards. Since March, 427 reports and 455 volunteer hours have been logged, enabling staff to identify problem areas and allocate resources efficiently. Key benefits include better data for planning, budgeting, and demonstrating program impact.
