The June 2024 release of ArcGIS Online introduces updated User Types for ArcGIS. By default all users under Education license agreements with Esri are upgraded to Professional Plus user type, which provides the highest access into the functionalities and capabilities.
The updated user types have an impact to ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online. This product, which provide image hosting and analysis in ArcGIS Online is no longer provisioned as an extension. With the June 2024 release of ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online becomes capabilities in ArcGIS Online.
What does it mean? It means that:
ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online now part ArcGIS Online capabilities, giving access to create hosted imagery layers and perform image analysis for all users with Professional User Type.
For Administrators
Moving forward, Administrators will no longer see the name ArcGIS Image for ArcGIS Online extension. For the Professional Plus user type, they will see the following capabilities included within the Licenses > User types tab of ArcGIS Online:
These capabilities are enabled for the default roles.
If you are using custom roles within your organization, make sure you to check the following privilege settings.
Can you disable/revoke the capabilities?
The answer is Yes by disabling the above settings in the custom role.
