Am I missing something, or does ArcMap have to be open in order to use ArcPy and Data Drive Pages? My script runs smoothly if ArcMap is open (even with a blank MXD), but if I run the script in standalone, I get ddp.pageCount = 0. Python will recognize that DDP is enabled and can access the Index Layer, etc., but for some reason it doesn't see the pages?
I'd like to be able to export DDP to PDF as a standalone. Can anyone provide any insight?
This is Python 2.7 with an .mxd set up in an ArcMap 10.8 environment.
