I recently extracted part of a 4-band raster image using the 'mask' function in Spatial Analyst. The output image was only 3-band. Is there any way to retain all 4 bands when extracting? Thanks in advance.

Hi Tom,

Did you use a layer as your input or the 4 band dataset? Don't know if that makes a difference...

I used the original 4-band image.

Tom,

What Robert is asking is if you selected your input from the input dropdown (when the raster is in the map) or if you browsed to the raster on disk.  This may make some difference is older versions.  However, I just tested 10.0 sp1 and in both scenarios I am returned a 4 band result.  I ran the Clip tool located in Data Management Tools > Raster > Raster Processing and the result was also 4 bands.  The Clip tool can clip to feature geometry just like Extract by Mask.  Give that tool a try.

What version are you using?

Eric

Eric,
I extracted the image with 'extract by mask' using the 4-band from disk instead of the layer in ArcMap and it worked.  That was the problem.  I appreciate your help.  Thanks to Robert as well.
