feature classes not deleted after deleting dataset

Hi

I am using Arccatalog 9.3. I have arcsde database (sql server 2005). I deleted a dataset in arccatalog (right click->delete). This dataset contained several feature classes. Now when I try to create a new feature classe with the same name, i get a message saying "feature class exists!" Does deleting the dataset not delete the feature class?? I cant even ssee these feature classes in arccatalog. How do I solve this problem and permanently delete the feature class.

Have you restarted the server? I'm not certain that would help but that's where I'd start first. Did the feature class have any relationships? If so, the tables or other related features could be causing an issue.
