created topology in 10.1 arcSDE geodatabase - can't edit

Created topology in an 10.1 SDE workgroup geodatabase, doesn't allow for editing. it does validate, but says there are no editable layers, when trying to edit (clean up topological errors). Permissions are set to read/write - removing the topology, the feature classes are editable................any ideas?

found it, (BURIED IN the 'HELP') can't edit toplogy in a non-versioned gdb
