I am trying to simply edit a .dbf table in ArcMap. Here are the steps that I am trying: 1. Add the .dbf table to my map 2. Right click on the Table, go to Edit Features > Start editing 3. Open the table in ArcMap 4. Select some records
At this point the I would expect the "Delete Selected" button on the table to be active, but it is not. The only way that I can delete records from a .dbf table at this point is to use the "Delete Rows" tool (ArcToolbox > Data Management Tools > Table > Delete Rows).
This seems like an extra, unnecessary step. Why can I no longer edit a .dbf table like I could at 10.0???
This is a known bug in 10.1 but should be fixed in 10.1 sp 2. The current workaround is to use the Delete Rows tool found at ArcToolbox > Data Management Tools > Table > Delete Rows, as you have been doing.
