With SDE views, in earlier versions of ArcSDE, it was possible to attach metadata to the views.
Is it possible to do this in enterprise geodatabases at 10.4? If not is this functionality gone forever?
We've always taken advantage of sde views, views created with the SDE command line utilities, to document the many views we maintain of our feature classes. With metadata attached to views they can be used just like feature classes and tables. If the feature class is copied to a file geodatabase the metadata goes with it. In fact, the user may not even know they are working with an view.
