Can anyone tell me how I can download ESRI data to my local drive?

Or if there is one location with a list of freely available layers, shapefiles or geodatabases?  (I am totally lost in all of ESRI's various sites and pages).    Specifically, ESRI allows us to load layers in ArcGIS - for example - from the link below.  But I would like to Save these layers to my local drive so I can do more advanced analysis with them.  Either that, or be able to download directly from an on-line repository.

I don't know if any of the services allow for download to local. So short of that being possible, I know that they have a new site Esri Open Data site and a Space on Geonet https://community.esri.com/community/gis/web-gis/arcgis-open-data?sr=search&searchId=07f69eac-9143-4... which might be worth a look to see if there are any sources specifically.  Dan

Also, if you are on maintenance, you can download data under the "additional products" for some of the software on the myesri page.  For example, under the Desktop 10.4.1 download page, the "Data and Amos for ArcGIS (2015)" is available for download.  You would have to see if there is any data that you need.

Unless that is released by the admin of the account, the data will not be available... like if you are with an educational organization, the access to the 'extras' is sometimes/often restricted/not available.  We do this to limit use of data which may be used in activities not covered by our educational license agreement since it requires another layer of supervision and maintenance.

They even keep a tight grip on me  .... I don't know why...

Hi Dan – I found what I was looking for. This atlas has most of what I was looking for, very nicely packaged. This should be used as a good example for how to make geodata available…..

good find Brian... didn't know that existed, looks like it has gov. participation as well, I presume from the national atlas
