AutoCAD "Region" not displaying in ArcGIS 10?

Hi all,

I think I've finally defined my problem clearly enough to ask a reasonable question.

When adding a .dwg to ArcMap certain elements are not being displayed. They are all "Regions" in AutoCAD, as opposed to "Blocks" or "Block References".

How can I (a - preferably) get the regions to draw in ArcMap, or (b - optionally) select and explode just the regions in AutoCAD, which results in polylines which do draw in ArcMap?

Thanks for your help.

Cheers

Sam,

Region Entities from AutoCAD are not supported in ArcGIS. ( NIM005141).

Here is the link to the help that shows the supported Entities from AutoCAD.

A possible workaround would be to explode the CAD regions, then save the drawing as a DXF. The regions would be converted to splines and hatches.

Thanks,

In recent versions of Autocad, you can edit the shading of an item and set its edge as a polyline format choosing. In this moment, we can apply a direct conversion.

Sorry for my english !!
