What's the best way to update side panel content?

Hi All,

I am using Map Journal for one of our projects. I was wondering if there is a way to update the side panel content based off a feature's attribute.

Basically, what I want to do is to query data from a feature service and use that data as the side panel's content. In that way, whenever my co-worker update something in ArcGIS online, the story map would be updated as well.

Any suggestions is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Yichi,

This is an interesting question. I wonder if you can do this by utilizing ArcGIS API for JavaScript. I do not think this would be an out-of-the-box function.

Howdy Adrian,

Thank you! I think I will look into the developer version.

Hi Yichi,

I have a colleague who has made a customization like the one you are asking about. He will package up and share the code when his schedule lightens up in about two weeks. He's also hopefully going to work on a guest post for our Story Maps Developers' Corner blog about this with some more details about his customization.

Hi Owen,

That will be awesome! Where would I find his code?

Thanks!

Yichi -- the code is not shared yet, but we'll link to it here when it's made available.
