Is there a way to make the home extent the same for all maps in a story map?  I published the feature class at the same extent for each feature layer (same feature class being symbolized for different time periods) but when I click on the Home button in the Zoom Slider in the story map the maps can have different home extents.

Hi Suzanne

Thanks for contacting me via email and sending the info abut the feature services you published. Like you mentioned it looks like ensuring that your feature services were published from Desktop with the same ArcMap data frame properties 'extent used by full extent command' setting helped standardize the default extents of those services.

The extents seem to be sync-ed now in your story map between the tabs and after the user presses Home after zooming in.

Could you let us know of which our Story Map application templates you are referring to. We have several different apps, and each one provides authors with a different layout and user experience for delivering a story.

I have been working the with tabbed story map and using the configurations available without downloading or customizing the app. I have been playing with saving an extent by editing the map in the story map app but while the scale looks consistent, the map shifts in four of the tabs when I click the Home button.

Hi Suzanne

The link you pasted has &edit at the end so it tries to launch the Story Map Series builder. Here's the correct link to your app

I do see the changing extents when I click the Home button. Are you using one web map in this series or multiple web maps?

Can we just check that in the Settings > Map Option dialog you have the 'Synchronize map locations' check box checked.

I do have it set. The maps will display the same from one tab to the next in that sense. The exception is if the user clicks the “home” button on the zoom slider. The home extent is slightly different for three of the five maps and I don’t know how to make the home extent the same for all five.

Hi Rupert,

Is the extent question something you are still looking at or would it be better if I submit a formal tech support request?
