I'm creating new shapefiles for field surveying and the default Map Projection in my Juno unit is GCS WGS 1984 but I require the projection to be GDA 1994 MGA Zone 55. The only projection available to select seems to be GCS WGS 1984. Can anyone please provide me with some instruction on how to create a new shapefile with the GDA 1994 MGA Zone 55 projection I need? Am using Arcpad 10.0
Thank you!

If you're in the field and only have access to your Juno I don't think there is much you can do.  From what I know if you create a new map or quick project it will default to WGS84.

If you have ArcPad installed on a PC, you can choose a different map projection when you create a quick project, it should let you choose something other than the default WGS84.  Just navigate to the projection folder and choose GDA94 MGA55; the path should be ArcGIS\ArcPad10.0\Coordinate System\Projected Coordinate Systems\National Grids\Australia.  Also, if your working from ArcMap, just export your map using the ArcPad tool and the projection will be maintained.

Fyi, if all you're after are the grid coordinates you can show them even if your map projection is in WGS84.  If you tap the status panel and go to the data page, you can change the coordinates displayed by tapping on them and choosing UTM.

In order for ArcPad to display the layers of your data correctly they need to be in the same coordinate system or projection and the projection information is stored in the .prj file. The default projection for a new map in ArcPad is latitude/longitude WGS84. If you have an arcpad.prj file in your My ArcPad folder than it will replace the WGS84 default projection.

The path to the GDA94 MGA55 is \\ArcGIS\ArcPad10.0\Coordinate System\Projected Coordinate Systems\National Grids\Australia > GDA 1994 MGA Zone 55.prj file. As Danik explained, you can select this projection when creating new QuickProject in ArcPad 10. A QuickProject is a "ready to use" data capture project and will consist of 3 new shapefiles in the project folder: Points.shp, Polylines.shp, and Polygons.shp. For more information, please refer to ArcPad Help topic linked here, http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcpad/10.0/help/index.html#//00s100000015000000

If you already have existing shapefiles with the default WGS84 projection then you will need to associate the layer with the .prj file via the Choose Map Projection Definition File tool in ArcPad's Table of Contents.

It is recommended to convert your data using ArcGIS Desktop to change the projection of your data before adding it to your ArcPad map. For more information, please refer to ArcPad Help topics available online via ArcGIS Resource Center.
