I'm a novice user of ArcPad and I have had no training of ArcPad beyond virtual training videos. I am trying to create my first ArcPad project to collect data in the field for my city's engineering department. I have checked out the data that I want to edit and I have gone into the field and made a couple of edits to the data and now I want to check the data back in so I can see the updates on ArcMap in the office. When I check the data back in, I am told that there have been no changes made to the feature class, yet the changes are definately there when I look at my mobile device. I've attached a screenshot of the message I'm getting. Anybody have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
B.A.

Hello,

ArcPad doesn't have automated check-in procedures: this means that after you have collected your field data, you still need to connect your device to your desktop computer using active sync/windows mobile device center (or use an SD card) to physically copy the AXF data onto your machine. This is the AXF that you need to browse to when using the Get Data From ArcPad tool.

When you say that you can see changes on your device but there are no features being checked-in, that leads me to think that you need to copy the AXF from your device and onto your desktop computer before using the ArcPad Data Manager Tools.

Another couple of issues that can cause trouble when checking-in are:

  • the name and the location of the original geodatabase CANNOT CHANGE between check-out and check-in

  • once your edits have been checked-in, the 'flags' in the AXF that indicate changed/new/deleted records are reset, meaning that you can only check your edits in ONCE

I hope this helps and please let me know how you get on,

Hannah
