I am trying to start a new map, but when I try to add a layer that is in NAD83 it just beeps me.  I see that the existing coordinate system in the new map (with no other layers) is WGS84 and I don't see where I can change that.

Desperate for some quick help on this.
Thanks.

I am using ArcPad 8.  The system path was originally set wrong somehow, but I changed it to C:\Program Files\ArcPad 8.0\System so now I don't get an error about a missing PrjData.dll file.  Still, all I get is a ding when I try to add a layer.

Fortunately I am able to add a layer on the PDA, but I wanted to do all the setup on the Desktop.  Is this just a But with the 8.0 desktop?

Hi,

It seems there's something wrong with your configuration/system. I use AP 8 (SP3) and I don't have any problems with adding layers to a new map with different coord. sys than WGS... Try to uninstall (and purge your registry) and renistall again (or install Service Packs to see if those solve your problem) or try it on a separate PC to see if the problem is on with computer or not...

Your ArcPadPrefs.apx may be out of date (usually found in My Documents\My ArcPad). You can either review your settings by opening ArcPad Options and review the paths to your ArcPad System files.

And even more simply option is to delete your ArcPadPrefs.apx. ArcPad should create a new one with the correct paths to your ArcPad System files.
