I have an applet which logs a sensor string and puts a point symbol on the arcpad map whenever a button is pressed.  we are logging hundreds of points per mission.  After a certain number of points (hundreds) the software loses the GPS feed and errors with the standard "no GPS data being received please check cables"etc.  it is not the same number of points each time and also not the same amount of time before the software errors.  Adding to a large file will also cause the error. we need to display and add to  the large number of points as this is a photo logging app and we need to see where we have been. No photos are being stored with the the point shapefile.

The only way to correct the error is to restart the software. the track log is not turned on. We have tried a number of solutions changing the baud  and update (hertz) rate of the GPS. Cutting down on the number of GPS strings sent.

Is this a limitation in Arcpad?

any ideas

Cheers
