Hi! We are going to migrate out test environment from 10.4.1 to 10.6.x. When we do this, we want to know if we can still use the WMX Administrator and Desktops we already have installed for our other environments (production and user acceptance are both running 10.4.1).
I know that there is usually a recommendation that the client and server be on the same version, but this means we'll have to set up other machines or VMs to have the 10.6.1 clients loaded up (there are multiple WMX administrators on our support team).
So....can we use the 10.4.1 clients to talk to WMX when it is 10.6? Any known issues?
When you upgrade to 10.6.1, your wmx repository may need upgrade to 10.6.1. This will not affect your connection from 10.4.1. With that being said, if you have multiple environments with different versions of WMX, you should be able to still connect to the same repository.
I can see two potential issues:
1. As you mentioned you have both desktop and server components. If you need to publish a WMX service, we would highly recommend you stay in the same version for server and wmx client.
2. If you need to use 10.6.1 WMX Administrator to configure any new functions being implemented after 10.4.1, it will not work in 10.4.1 client.
Hope it help.
