I'm trying out ArcGis for a 60 day trial and would like to try the Web AppBuilder Dev Edition.   However when trying to install I get the infamous

Error 400  Invalid redirect_url

I followed the install instructions here and troubleshooting here, with no luck.   I'm have node 6.9.5 installed.

I am a loss as to what is going on, so hoping for advice and also to check that it is not the trial account status that is causing the problem.

Mari,

Since the getting started page talks about using a trial account you can be sure that this is not your issue.

Specify your portal URL

  1. Specify the URL for the ArcGIS Online organization or Portal for ArcGIS account that you want Web AppBuilder to access. To use Web AppBuilder, you must have an ArcGIS Online organization account, a Portal for ArcGIS account, or an ArcGIS for Developers account.
  2. Click Continue.
    • If the portal you specified above uses web-tier authentication, skip the next section. After log in, you can build your first app.
    • If you're using ArcGIS Online organization or portal with OAuth2 authentication, follow the steps in the next section to provide an App ID for Web AppBuilder.

Look at the FAQ about this error:

FAQs—Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS (Developer Edition) | ArcGIS for Developers

What should I do when I try to set the App ID and encounter an Invalid redirect_uri error?

Ah thanks for pointing out the free trial link in the install instructions.  Glad to be able to rule that out.

I have followed the FAQ tip as well with no luck.   Here is what I've tried so far:

  • Deleted signininfo.json file and re-register app id
  • checked spelling of my machine name in the URL
  • verified that I am not in a domain
  • included both https and http URLs
  • deleted and re-extracted Web AppBuilder files from zip folder  (and then basically did whole install process from beginning)
  • Changed my organization account security setting to not use Https

Kind of at a loss of what to try next.

Mari,

Are you using http or https when WAB asks for your portal url?

I've tried both before and after changing security settings

Mari,

It is hard to say what might be going wrong then. I have all the right resources that I would normally recommend people use. You may need to contact tech support and see if they can help you though what you must be missing.

Is there a way to contact tech support as a trial customer?

When I go to  http://support.esri.com/contact-tech-support#us

Or  Standard Support at

http://support.esri.com/other-resources/SupportServices#standard/usadomestic

It states that chat and telephone support are only for subscribers and that I don't have access.

I don't see any other contact options.

Mari,

If you do not have maintenance with esri for some ArcGIS product then you are correct you can not call or contact esri tech support. I am not sure what to tell you as most people have their invalid redirect url issue solved by following the advice in

/blogs/myAlaskaGIS/2015/01/15/tips-and-observations-for-getting-web-appbuilder-developer-edition-ins...

or the FAQ link I provided earlier.

I think I might also try creating a new question here and reference in question title the error I'm getting.   This question title just refers to using Web Appbuilder as trial customer.
