Stop Dimming of Display with Shift Zoom

Hi:

Is there an easy way to prevent the screen dimming behavior that occurs with shift zoom? It also occurs when displaying the Flex alert box. It doesn't add anything, it wastes time on a slow network connection, and it's simply annoying.
