Hello,

I am using Flex 2.5 and I cannot fix this error with the locate widget.
I got this error one day without changing anything : "Unable to connect to locator service, service does not exist or is inaccessible"

I am using the European geocode server.

Any idea if this is linked to something on the configuration file or not?

Here is the error:

thanks in advance for your help!

Anne

Anne,

That is because that locator has be retired. This was announced and blogged about for many month last year and was retired offically this year. You have to use the world geocode locator:

Oups, did not see that!
I'm not using this for a long time for my defence... 🙂

Works fine with the world geocode locator.

Thanks!

Hi Anne,
Here is another blog about the address locator services being combined into a new web service:
http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/98011-FlexViewer-3.0-or-older-Address-Locators-combined-into-new-we...

You might put a calendar event in your Outlook to remind you to check this list every few months. This lists gets updated regularly with what is being discontinued. Just put this link in your calendar reminder.
http://downloads.esri.com/support/product%20life%20cycle/online_gis/ArcGISOnlineServ_PLC.pdf

It looks like the Demographics layers are being discontinued next. There are replacement layers, if you look around here:

Hope this helps!

Hi Anne,
    You are welcome!
Just a heads up, the Drive Directions widget (Route widget) was updated at the same time as the address locators.
Here is the link to the new web service information in my 12-02-2013 post:
http://forums.arcgis.com/threads/26879-Google-Routing-Widget-for-the-Flexviewer?p=348205#post348205
I did learn I had to be on Flex Viewer 3.1 for the new widget to work.
Hope this helps,
Janie
