Just for planning purposes, does anyone have any predictions on the end of life (drop dead date) for Flex Applications?

Hi David,

Please check this online doc for ArcGIS Web Mapping Product Life Cycle Support Status:

http://downloads.esri.com/support/product%20life%20cycle/online_gis/ArcGISWebMappingAPIs_PLC.pdf

And here is another blog talks about the Plan for ArcGIS APIS/ Flex

Hope this can help.

Hi David,

Flex and Silverlight 3.x versions of Web API and Viewers will be retired on June 1, 2016. More information is provided in this online doc for ArcGIS Web Mapping Product Life Cycle Support Status:

Thanks,

Richardson

What exactly does it mean '...will be retired'?  Will existing Flex apps cease working on June 1 2015?

Hi Michael,

Your existing Flex apps will continue to work. Retired Phase means that these Softwares have been removed and are no longer available or supported. Apart from that Phone and chat Technical support will not be available. Access to very limited support will be provided through the online support center including knowledge base, supported environment, downloads, and discussion forums. Although the online information will remain available to users, this information will not be updated for retired products. Users, however, will be able to browse existing documents.

Thanks,

Richardson

Hi Gerardo,

As far as I know, in order to use Bing maps basemap in any Esri product, we need a Bing maps key. So if your key is valid for use, then technically you should be able to continue using your Flex Web Application. It would be best if you can contact Esri Technical Support and clarify this case.

I understand ESRI will retire Flex on June 1, 2016.  I assume this will mean, no new releases and support will be non-existent or minimal.  However, what will drive the ultimate failure of Flex Applications and when should I expect to see D-Day?
