How to Publish Utility Network from Enterprise Geodatabase to Portal and Be able to use it in ArcGIS Web Editor

I have a Problem on the ArcGIS Utility Network. I have managed to apply asset package of essential model to my Enterprise Geodatabase. I have enabled database to use Branch version both on database level and dataset level, i have also enabled Network topology but the issue is that in the ArcGIS Pro before publishing i can not be able to use any of Utility Network tools, they are all disabled when based in database connection and then i tried to publish UN web layer but still i got a challenge of not getting traces and Utility network functionaries either in experience builder and in web editor.

I need your help on the best workflow step by step to publish UN successfully and being able to access it and use it in ArcGIS Web Editor. Thank you

You'll want to follow this article for instructions on how to publish the service and maps required to support an enterprise deployment, you can find additional detail in the online help about publishing and consuming utility network services. You can also find detailed instructions for publishing services in the solutions documentation.

If you want to use your web map for tracing (experience builder, web editor, etc) you'll need to include one or more trace configurations in the web map you've published. You can find detailed instructions for configuring a web application for tracing in this article.

I was at the IMGIS conference last week and was a little thrown off during a session when they were talking about publishing. They mentioned when going to publish to, "publish a web map" this is a little different from what I was expecting and I wanted to make sure I was really understanding what this meant. I have read through the links you provided above and I think maybe I am wrapping my head around this, but...

What is the difference or why would I share as a web layer vs a web map? Both are allowing me to publish out the UN "group" of layers, so is there some other reason that we would want to publish as a web map rather than the web layer? I have read through this, and I if I am understanding is it that if we wanted to create the entire map that we could or would use in both Pro and in our web map/apps, rather than build a separate web map on AGE with the map image/features layers that we want?

I am not sure I am totally gathering the difference or the reasons behind why the speaker said to publish as a web map for the UN?

I often refer to this article for these discussions: Understanding the Differences Between Utility Network Maps.

The first graphic in the article should help understand this better:

When you "publish a web layer" you are creating a feature service for the features in your enterprise geodatabase (this feature service SHOULD NOT include subtype group layers or any additional symbology). When you "publish a web map" you are taking a display where you have applied configuration (labels, symbology, etc) to those feature services and wish to share the resulting display with web/mobile users. There are situations where you can have multiple feature services, but you shouldn't have a separate service for each map (ne feature service should support many maps).

Thank you Robert. I was just looking at this document this morning and will need to try to wrap my head around things a bit more. we are just getting started with the UN, so some of the terminology isn't quite sinking in just yet. Thank you for your help!
