Survey123 Connect - maximum length / tags in Description (to/from AGOL Item Description)?

When managing S123 surveys, we use the Description (both in the Details tab of Survey123 Connect and the AGOL item) to give user information and keep a change log. I publish from S123 Connect, update the description on AGOL, then download the update back down to S123 Connect (otherwise it'll overwrite blank on the next publish). It's kind of clunky but generally works.

Today I bumped into a new thing - in S123 Connect 3.22.49, it just wipes out long text in the Description field instead of saving/updating it.  The limit might be around 8200 characters but I can't quite work it out.  

Has anyone else run into this? 

To replicate:

1) Create a new survey in S123 and publish it.

2) On AGOL, edit the Description for the survey form item, go to HTML mode, and paste the following 76-line HTML block:

 3) Save on AGOL, go back to Survey123 Connect. Refresh your S123 Connect surveys, then download updates to your survey.  

4) Open your survey, go to Details tab, everything looks good.

5) Go back to AGOL, edit the Description HTML again, and add this line at the bottom on a new line:

 6) Save changes, go back to S123 Connect, refresh and download changes.

7) Open your survey, go to Details, see that the Description box is now empty.  

😎 Re-publish your survey, see that your Description on AGOL is now gone (and you're very sad).
