Has anyone else run into the issue where your network security is blocking the execution of .exe files in your Users directory/directories? If so, how did you get around it?

We use McAfee, and it blocks Windows Explorer from running any .exe's from the User directory. Our work-around was to save Survey123 and Survey123 Connect to any directory except C:\Users. While this works with my own surveys, it fails when I send agency staff, without a named user account, a link to download a public survey. The link tries to open S123 from the Users directory, not our location, and we can't repoint to our location.

Could we "reprogram" S123 to look at, say, C:\Program Files through App Studio?

Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately, using a different install location is not currently supported by Survey123 Connect and the field app, and also is not supported by AppStudio. It is not possible to use AppStudio to build a custom Survey123 installation that uses a different folder path for the install and related folders/files, as the limitation is with the underlying Qt framework. As you have found out trying to install to different folder paths does work on install, but may cause other issues when trying to open surveys or use functionality on the app.

Existing enhancements for Connect and the field app (ENH-000101301 and ENH-000101302) have already been raised for this request similar to yours, although it is currently in our backlog and not a high priority for development in the near term. I would suggest contacting Esri support and attaching your request for this functionality to these existing enhancement requests.

Regards,

Phil.
