Survey 1-2-3 in China?

I have seen that there is simplified and traditional Chinese language  support in Survey 1-2-3, but I have a question about actual use of the survey in China.  We have a professor here that will be doing research in China and we would like to assist him in his historical data collection by setting up a Survey 1-2-3.  He is traveling to mainland China - we are curious if anyone has had success or issues with this type of data collection.

Thanks for any assistance or feedback,

Hi Shannon

The Survey123 App and Webform UI is translated into Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong) and Traditional Chinese (Taiwan). Language display is controlled by the locale of the device/browser you are using.

You are also able to create different versions of labels and hints when authoring a survey and the user can switch to them in the form (or have Chinese as the default). Please see https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2016/11/16/introducing-multiple-language-surveys for more information on this.

Will the user be using the field app or the web app (or both)?

Thanks

John

Thanks Johnathan for the link, we had looked at GeoNet and found some of the character and wording solutions.

The research would like to be able to use it in China while doing research in archives and other locations key to his research while simultaneously having Graduate Research Assistants here in the US entering information from resources he will provide/they will find.   I know he will have his phone and his laptop with him.   He has lived there and knows the issues of accessing web-based resources we were trying to figure out if it would be blocked or if others had experiences with collecting data via survy 1-2-3 in Mainland China.

Hi Shannon - the Survey123 web development team actually work out of China and we are not aware of any issues regarding blocking of the app or ArcGIS services. You should be fine in this respect.

Thanks

Hi Shannon,

As Johnathan mentioned, the web development team works in China and we don't see blocking on ArcGIS services or app comunications between servers. The only exception is that Google Play is blocked in China, so you need to find another way (e.g. to get an .apk file) to install the Survey123 field app on an Android device.

@ZhifangWang

Hi, we have friends in China want to install Survey123 app, but as you said Google Play is blocked in China. So do you know where to find the .apk file for Survey123 app?

Thanks!
