Recently one of our workers was performing a vegetation survey in an area with patchy cellular service. They were in the middle of a survey when all of a sudden they were force signed out of Survey123 and promptly signed back in automatically using stored credentials. They were prompted to recover their data which had autosaved before they were forcefully signed out, which they proceeded to do. They were then immediately force signed out (again), but this time they were not automatically signed back in and they had to manually do this. When they signed back in, they were not prompted to recover their survey data as there presumably had not been enough time between them recovering it previously and being force signed out again for another autosave to trigger. This meant that they lost their data for that survey. They were not in aeroplane mode as they occasionally were referring to online resources for plant ID and I am hesitant to advise them to operate using aeroplane mode in areas of patchy service if they do not have to.
Having done some reading I couldn't find much specifically related to this issue, but given that they were in a semi-connected environment my guess is that there was some token expiration for Survey123 that needed to be refreshed by signing out and back in again. I am at a blank as to why they were force signed out twice in quick succession.
Has anyone had an experience like this? Does anyone have any ideas of ways to prevent this from happening in the future, such as a prolonged token expiration period? Or is there some best practice recommendations around operating in places with patchy service? Any and all advice/resources/links would be greatly appreciated.
For context, they were using an iPhone 13 running iOS 17.5.1 and Survey123 v3.20.69. The form has bene published using Survey123 Connect v3.20.63

This happens. We usually have our crew turn on airplane mode so this does not happen while in the field. Then the token will stick for 2 weeks I think it is.

Thank you both @DougBrowning and @DuncanC for your responses, I suspected that this might be the case. That is a bit unfortunate but at least having some clear messaging around this for our field staff is better than the uncertainty of not knowing what the issue is. Appreciate both of your help!
