Put UserName in a Field

I want to add the surveyor's username into a field.

How can I pick up the username?

If the field is turned to readonly=yes, will it appear in the report?

The readonly attribute shouldn't have any bearing on the report - that's only to indicate that the field is readonly in the collection phase.
