Hi,
A survey that has been working fine for a long time has suddenly stopped accepted JPG attachments. A PNG will attach ok, but not JPGs. There is no error message; it just does not accept them.
I've done nothing to the survey recently, except add a Regex contraint to a separate, unrelated field for email addresses. That was last week and it seems to have been working well since then, until today.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Darragh

Hi @DarraghOSullivan ,
This issue has been identified further to image questions that are set with a restricted size (resolution):
Would you mind confirming if this is your case?
I am having the same problem. In mid-February, my survey (that has been working great since last April) suddenly stopped allowing .jpg or .jpeg images. The survey was written using Survey123 Connect, and our internal users submit it using a mobile device (iPad or iPhone). In the past month, I discovered that the iPad will not allow you to select a picture from the photos file on the iPad. It will open the screen to select the picture, but it will not allow a picture to be selected. This is the same as the original poster's issue.
I checked, and I don't have any size restrictions on my photos. I do have a limit of 10 images accepted, but no size limitations. Do you have any other suggestions on how I can get the survey to work, again? Many of our users use a separate camera (phone or other camera) and then submit the survey using the iPad and accessing the photos through the cloud. It is critical that this be permitted. Please help.
Hi @ZhifangWang
Yes, the first bullet is the case. When I removed the size restriction, it works. My understanding though was that the size is scaled down by Survey123, rather than rejecting images of a larger size. Is this correct? And if not, how has it been working all along?
I can leave the restriction off for now, but I'd rather have the scaling down to avoid higher storage costs than we need.
Thanks again, Darragh
Yes, the Survey123 field app or web app will scale down the image according to the setting to reduce file size and save storage/network transmission. Please find here the details in the doc https://doc.arcgis.com/en/survey123/desktop/create-surveys/xlsformmedia.htm#GUID-22BCA2FE-B1F5-428A-...
Thank you @ZhifangWang for confirming
@ZhifangWang also confirming that changing Options -> Image size on the longest edge to Unrestricted (from 640px) enables JPG to be selected on iOS when clicking the "Select image file" button; however the Camera button now pops a message saying a photo cannot be taken because camera is not connected or not allowed in browser settings. Safari is set to allow any website to use the camera.
@Anonymous User ,
Can you please change the settings in iOS Settings->Safari e.g. to ask every time to see if it works? Or try in Chrome for the camera to see if it is blocked by the browser setting or iOS setting.
Hi @Anonymous User
Thank you - that seems to be working fine on a first test. Will monitor and let you know.
