Editing select_multiple questions in Survey123 Inbox doesn't clear existing values?

Publish a survey from Connect with a select_multiple question.

Go to edit in via the inbox. The values are in the question but the selections are empty. Selecting anything adds to the existing data entry.

e.g. if existing value is 'Option 1, Option 2', selecting Option 1 and 3 again returns a result of 'Option 1, Option 2, Option 1, Option 3'

If no existing value, a comma is inserted and value becomes ',Option 1, Option 3'

We want the users to be able to adjust the selection as though they were re-entering the data.

I can't see any documented limitations. Is this a known issue or is there another type of parameter that needs to be adjusted?

Just looping back on this, the issue was we had existing values that didn't match the comma separated coded values. e.g. Survey123 needs 'Two, Three' but having an existing value of 'Option 2, Option 3' would make the end result 'Option 2, Option 3, Two, Three'. Need to clear the values and re-select. Can do this in field calc or adding a manual app re-calc to set the values to ''.
