It would be awesome to make use of the Smart Phones (AR sensors) to perform measurements of items in the field.

Example:

Field staff are inspecting Power and Telephone poles. They need to capture the height of the pole.

or

Field staff is taking a survey of trees and part of the survey requires the field staff to measure the height and width of the tree.

Is this related to Spike https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/product/field-mobility/whats-new-in-survey123-for-arcgis-v...

On my new iPad Pro with Lidar I can measure things.  But I have not found this integrated to Esri yet.  I did post on it once.

Check out this guy using it for trees   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYfxROji6Hg

Looks like they just took it further https://ie.linkedin.com/company/treemetrics

@DougBrowning Thanks for the feedback and links. I guess it's trying to use the inbuilt functionality of the phone rather than having to purchase another device. The Lidar and the measure app are good tools to use it would be good to integrate that functionality.
