Hello dear community,
since a few days embedded PDFs in storymaps do not work anymore (uploaded and embedded form ArcGIS content). The error message “Apparently there is a problem” is always displayed in the storymaps. Is this a temporary bug or should we better change all our storymaps?

@TimothySc @AmaliaSchwartz - The PDFs are loading consistently for me and several of my colleagues on different browsers and networks. I think the next step would be for you to contact Esri Support so they can help troubleshoot further. Our support analysts are skilled at isolating issues with particular environments and will be able to provide you with additional help tracking down the cause of this issue.
@TimothySc -- I'm sorry you are seeing a problem with your embedded PDFs. We looked into it and at first I couldn't repro the issue with your story. Then I connected to my VPN, tested again, and was no longer able to see your PDF inside the story (but I could still download it or open it in a separate tab).
Are you connected to a VPN when seeing the issue? If so, can you try disconnecting and opening the story in a new browser or fresh private browsing window and let us know if you can still reproduce the issue?
Thank you for taking a closer look at the problem. Regarding VPN is not used from our side. I have tried it with several browsers and different devices and operating systems (e.g. Windows, MacOS). We mainly use Edge for work and that was never a problem with the PDFs until last week. Looks like it only works properly in Google Chrome and the private Edge browser. I have also deleted all cookies. Also in view of the fact that our storymap is an essential part of a scientific project, it is a pity that the accessibility under Edge is apparently no longer given. But maybe there could also be a problem with our region (Austria)?
I am having the same issue, the embedded PDFs in my collection are showing an error message. I've tried different browsers, private browsing window, and disconnecting from the wifi network- and get the same error message.

@TimothySc - We looked into this more, and it may have been an issue only with a previous browser version.
We are not able to reproduce the issue on that latest version of Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. For example, I'm running Edge 134.0.3124.95.
Can you make sure your browsers are up to date and retest?
Thank you for your engagement in this!
Unfortunately, my Edge browser is up to date: 135.0.3179.54. This would also not explain why it works in private mode. I have also tried embedding other PDFs (not from Arcgis content). These do not work either.
Just for information, we have not changed anything. The embedded PDFs always worked until last week.
