We love the immersive Map tour, which gives unique options to show historical locations with guided field photos, text and images. Unfortunately, there is no option for changing the basemap for a specific slide like there is for the Sidecar.
It would be really nice, if the option for changing the basemap for specific slides were also available, as some times it gives better information for the user, when you can change the basemap for different scales and background information. Currently, we have to divide the tour to change the basemap, which kind of breaks the immersive effect going from point to point.
In our case, we would like to start our tour with a topographic overview map, to show the described location with place names on it. But then we want to change over to a satellite image, which corresponds better to the real world information and the field photos on our slides.

Let me know if this works for you.
Dear @OwenGeo
Thank you for your reply. The option to adjust the map appearance is there, but unfortunately it does not allow us to change the basemap for one particularly slide. It changes the basemap for all slides in the Map tour.
For the Sidecar we are able to change the basemap for a particularly slide, so we thereby can show various basemap informations during the presentation. In our case, our Story Map is focusing on the presentation of localities in Greenland using historical field photos and maps.
