Hi @OwenGeo ,
The alt text for map tour images and media is great. I think I saw that it is even available for feature service media now! However, it seems like map tours are the only blocks where there is no opportunity to add alt text to the accompanying map portion. Are there any plans to add that? Accessibility-wise, both the overview map and the map extents for individual tour points would benefit from alt text descriptions. To have to include relevant info about the basemap and what point is near which other landmark in the tour point descriptions themselves would be redundant and clunky for sighted users...alt text would be strongly preferred.
Thanks,
Jessica
Hi @JessicaWeinberg! Thanks for sharing this idea for an accessibility enhancement for map tour.
We don't have this in our current plans, but I moved your post from the original thread to its own idea on the Ideas Board so others can comment on it and vote for it.
@OwenGeoThanks for creating an ArcGIS Idea. Can you add the link to this discussion? For some reason it isn't in your post from Tuesday.
@CharmelMenzel -- It doesn't look like there's any record of the original thread that I can find. Perhaps @JessicaWeinberg remembers which thread she posted on?
But from what I recall there wasn't any discussion on this specific issue there (which is why I created a new tread for it 🙂 ).
Thank you @OwenGeo for starting this new idea! @CharmelMenzel , I think I had originally inquired on this thread: Solved: Accessibility Features in Guided Tour Storymap - Esri Community
The ability to add alternative text for map tour maps was added in March 2023 (release notes).
