I'm in the middle of a 60 day evaluation of ArcGIS 10.

Everything has been perfect until I tried to create a distance image today using Toolbox > Spatial Analyst Tools > Distance > Euclidean Distance.   The response was...

- - -

"Unable to execute the selected tool.

You do not have the necessary license to execute the selected tool.
ERROR 010096:  There is no Spatial Analyst license currently available or enabled."

- - -

Spatial Analyst is reported as "Installed" and "Authorized" in ArcGIS Administrator.

I looked to "tools something..."  to enable Spatial Analyst as discussed below for 9.x, but couldn't find it.

I tried to deauthorize as well, but this failed...  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

In addition to being authorized, each extension must be set to be enabled for the current ArcMap session.

In ArcMap --> Customize --> Extensions, check the Spatial Analyst box.

Remember to uncheck when finished and the extension is no longer needed.  This will keep future MXDs smaller and interchangeable with other users, and not needlessly consume an extension license.

So what about when all of the above has been satisfied (Spatial Analyst extension has been installed, successfully authorized, and is checked in ArcMap) and you still get the error message? Then what? Any idea what I'm missing?

Yes, easy fix. But I still forget sometimes and I'm going "I know I authorized that extension."
