Tile fetching is slow. Running a similar test using the js-apis (on the same network) - stuff runs fast.

Is the tiled service by any chance created from an Image Service where you are using it in the BaseMap Switcher?
This is recorded using the iOS simulator correct?
Do you experience the same thing on a physical device? I've noticed a marked difference in drawing speed on the simulator - especially when emulating devices with retina displays. I assume the host Mac is working overtime to simulate the GPU.
