How to add symbols to an annotation feature class

Aside from manually creating text symbols in the Pro UI for an annotation feature class, how can I do this using the SDK?

Thanks for your response. The snippets show how to create stand-alone text symbols but is it possible in the API to add these text symbols to an annotation feature class?
